FINE METROCAR: HkB 42 is LTF's "jewel".
LTF is an unpolitical idealistic organisation. The association's aim is to spread the interest for and knowledge about the public transport and its history. LTF was established in 1966. At that time, the tram and trolleybus was about to disappear from the city scene in Oslo. The operation of trams in Bergen was already closed down, and just one tramcar was rescued. The possibilities for the same to happen in Oslo mad a handfull of enthusiasts to do something actively to save this important part of the city's history. The whole thing started with two motorcars and one trailer. Today the association owns and employs 65 rail vehicles, 30 buses and seven other vehicles, which make the largest collection of public transport vehicles in Norway. Most of the vehicles are from Oslo and Akershus, but the association has also got vehicles from other parts of the country. The association has around 450 members of all ages. LTF runs the Tramway Museum Vognhall 5 at Majorstuen in Oslo, Norway, and has a veteran tramway under construction at Vinterbro near the amusement park TusenFryd outside Oslo. |
