LTF invites all members to a farewell trip with Oslo Sporveier's SM83 class trams or "rebuilt Høka tramcars". In the middle of the 80's, Oslo Sporveier rebuilt in total 11 Høka tramcars (SM53). These have later got the classification SM83 and are numbered from 201 to 211. The tramcars were rebuilt from scratch at Sagene workshop. They got new front, new interior and new electronic steering. Only truck and boggies were kept from the original Høka tramcar. The first rebuilt tram has after this run almost 15 years after this in heavy Oslo traffic. Then, the tram has in use in almost 50 years. That's a respectable age, even for a tram, but now it's definitely over. And LTF can't let this happen unnoticed. Therefore, we invite all our members to a good-bye trip with the SM83's; don't miss this! If you wish to take pictures of the SM83 class trams in traffic, you must hurry! On February 14th, 2000, there are only two trams left in ordinary traffic. This is 201+587 and 203+590. 206 and 589 aren't discarded, but is out of service due to a fault. The rest of the trams are discarded and awaiting to be scrapped. 202 and 584 were scrapped last summer. You may find more information about the SM83 class trams here. Tramcar take-overs
As Oslo Sporveier are putting more SL95 class tramcars into service, will tramcars or the classifications SM83 and SM91 disappear. Therefore, LTF has decided to take over the following tramcars for preservation:
