Picture of the Month, February 2002 ![]() When the horse tramway was electrified in 1899, Kristiania Sporveisselskap bought 47 motorcars, produced by Linke-Hofmann Busch (LHB) and Falkenried, with electrical equipment from Union. On the picture above is car no. 4 on its way to Homansbyen. The picture is probably taken during a winter in the beginning of the 20th century. No. 4 was built by LHB. It had an effect of 2x 18 kW, was 7,8 metres long and 1,8 metres wide, and weighted 9,8 kilotons. Already in 1914, 32 Union class cars were equipped with AEG motors, and in 1917-18, the body was lenghtened. Photo: LTF Archive. |
